Youth Connect helps young men and women in the community to achieve safe, productive, independent lives through technical training, apprenticeships, and career services. In 2011-2013 BBP worked with Youth Connect to develop an extensive life-skills curriculum to provide youth with the confidence and capital to work toward positive and healthy professional and social lives.
The life skills curriculum covered a wide variety of topics including making decisions for oneself, making practical life choices, interpersonal relationships, anger management, communication, and transitions. BBP also worked with Youth Connect to explore the concepts of community, cultural and peer influences, discrimination, role models, stereotypes, and values. The materials and course were designed to be interactive and practical skills-based so that youth trainees who graduate from the course are better equipped to navigate the challenges of becoming an adult.
